I had mentioned in a few podcasts that all of this started when I was asked to write an article about aerial operations. I was approached by Chief Brian Bastinelli and Lieutenant Brian Yonkin, who work for the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania Bureau of Fire. They were collaborating to put together a journal and conference, called the Art of Firemanship Days. The journal, Firemanship, was a compliment and companion to the Conference. The Journal is a beautiful piece of fire service art. The articles are top notch and the design and format is a thing of beauty.
The article that I wrote appeared in the Fifth Release of the Journal, Fall of 2017, and it is called - Maximizing Your Operational Capabilities with a Midmount Aerial. While the article may have a midmount lean, I do think that there is information in there that operators of all rigs can use.
I encourage you to take a look at all eleven releases of the Journal, even if you don't take a look at my article, I think you will appreciate the time and effort that people put into that publication.
Unfortunately the Journal is no longer published, and there hasn't been a Conference since pre-Covid. Thankfully we still have this archive that we can look back on and enjoy.
Below is a link to all of the journals, which can be downloaded for free.
Let me know what you think.
